CeBIT is Australia’s premier business technology event, connecting technology professionals from established industry leaders and start-ups from around the Asia Pacific region. This year, CeBIT is expecting around 15,000 attendees including 350 exhibitors from 34 countries.

Over 50 presentations ranging from digital marketing, user experience, cybersecurity and future workforce planning are scheduled. Eight keynote speakers will present, including NASA’s Dennis Andrucyk, who will discuss how to make use of data collected from space.

Another topic of discussion will be the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), providing insight into the way emerging technologies will disrupt society in the future. New transport solutions will soon transform the way we commute. The Australian and New Zealand Driverless Vehicle Initiative (ADVI) are exhibiting an interactive pod with the goal of accelerating the introduction of driverless vehicles. Furthermore, an airtight pod called Hyperloop by VicHyper will be revealed. Hyperloop flies through a near-vacuum tube and can reach speeds of up to 1000k/h. It could even become the next major mode of transport.

The NSW Government is CeBIT’s official partner. John Barilaro, Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business commented that “NSW is Australia’s ICT and start-up capital, and home to 41% of the nation’s start-up founders and 42% of its support network. CeBIT will be a great opportunity to promote the best and brightest of our industry.” 12 of NSW’s most ground-breaking start-ups will exhibit, including The Safety Compass, which uses augmented reality to identify safety issues in the workplace and WipeHero, a technology that washes vehicles without a drop of water.

The final day of CeBIT is dedicated to start-ups and the second floor will hold an innovation hub called ‘The StartUp Zone,’ where the PitchFest competition winner will be announced. PitchFest encourages entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas and receive feedback from established business owners. The 10 finalists range from a solar power metering system to an app that facilitates the rental of parking spots.

CeBIT Australia will be held from 23-25 May at the Sydney International Convention Centre. Technology marketing event, Techmix 2017 will co-locate with CeBIT on May 24.
